How is crude oil mined
Transport of the crude oil to the refinery is sometimes very complicated. The oil refinery turns crude oil into useful products and materials. These are transported all over Britain or abroad. The products can travel through pipelines, by road, rail or by boats around the coast or along rivers and canals. Extracting oil (or "bitumen") from oil/tar sand and oil shale deposits requires mining the sand or shale and heating it in a vessel or retort, or using "in-situ" methods of injecting heated liquids into the deposit and then pumping the liquid back out saturated with oil. Crude oil is a fossil fuel, meaning that it was made naturally from decaying plants and animals living in ancient seas millions of years ago -- most places you can find crude oil were once sea beds. Crude oils vary in color, from clear to tar-black, and in viscosity, from water to almost solid. Crude oil is a dark, oily liquid that is usually found naturally in underground reservoirs, pools, and tar sands. It is a fossil fuel that is extracted and used to make petroleum products. Crude oil is refined to make gasoline, diesel fuel, jet fuel, residential fuel oil, kerosene, propane, and other sources of energy. Crude Oil may be located using the Resource Scanner after completing the Tier 5 milestone "Oil Processing". It can't be mined manually, it has to be extracted with an Oil Extractor . Oil is commonly located far away from the player starting point so a well-prepared exploration is needed to reach it. Crude oil is the liquid form of petroleum, natural gas is the gaseous form of petroleum, and oil shale and sands are the semi-solid forms of petroleum. Both petroleum and coal come from decayed organic matter that was compressed underneath layers of sedimentary rock deep below the Earth’s surface. The most common method of refining crude is the process of fractional distillation. This involves heating crude oil to about 350 degrees Celsius, to turn it into a mixture of gases. These are piped into a tall cylinder, known as a fractional tower.

Petroleum companies extract crude oil from the Earth using a perforation in the Earth's surface called an oil well. Crude oil is a liquid form of petroleum. In addition, wells provide natural gas. Refining crude oil produces gasoline, diesel fuel and other useful petroleum products. Oil wells are 5 to 36 inches in diameter. Crude oil is extracted by drilling wells, but oil sand deposits are strip mined or made to flow into producing wells by in situ techniques which reduce the bitumen's viscosity with steam and/or solvents. Extracting crude oil normally starts with drilling wells into an underground reservoir. VArious holes are dug, a smaller drill, then the main one using a power system such as an electrical generator, a hoist system, a turntable and more, as well as the drills themselves. The oil refining process is the central activity of downstream oil and gas companies. In the refining process, crude oil is refined to produce different petroleum products like gasoline, diesel Extracting crude oil and natural gas When we refer to crude oil as a raw material for the chemical industry, we are usually referring to crude oil, which a mixture of hydrocarbons. Strictly, we should be using the term petroleum, derived from Latin petra - rocks and oleum – oil.
The crude oil from the oil field is taken to the refineries with the help of underground pipelines. The drill-hole from which crude oil are mined are called oil-wells. Now –a day, petroleum is also mined by drilling holes into the seabed. Such a drilling is called offshore drilling.

Crude oil is a mixture of comparatively volatile liquid hydrocarbons (compounds composed mainly of hydrogen and carbon ), though it also contains some nitrogen, sulfur, and oxygen. Those elements form a large variety of complex molecular structures, some of which cannot be readily identified.

These properties dictate how the crude oil is formed, where it is found, the ease of extraction and University of Mines and Technology, Tarkwa, Ghana. Abstract: Crude oil affects almost all activities of our modern day hydrocarbon society irrespective of the. The crude oil from the oil field is taken to the refineries with the help of underground pipelines. The drill-hole from which crude oil are mined are called oil-wells. Now –a day, petroleum is also mined by drilling holes into the seabed. Such a drilling is called offshore drilling. In 2018, nearly 16% of U.S. crude oil was produced from wells located offshore in the federally administered waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Although total U.S. crude oil production generally declined between 1985 and 2008, annual production increased from 2009 through 2015. Crude oil, commonly known as petroleum, is a liquid found within the Earth comprised of hydrocarbons, organic compounds and small amounts of metal. While hydrocarbons are usually the primary component of crude oil, their composition can vary from 50%-97% depending on the type of crude oil and how it is extracted. Petroleum companies extract crude oil from the Earth using a perforation in the Earth's surface called an oil well. Crude oil is a liquid form of petroleum. In addition, wells provide natural gas.
