Can't believe I forgot the Bonus Pack. I will say that Improved Races broke my game and I had to restart -- economy booster dropped hundreds of stations into individual sectors rather than spread them out.

TC has more story missions from what I understand but those can be modded in into AP. TC and AP are by and large very similar in their universe despite the fact that in AP there is a major galactic war going on that alters a very specific set of sectors.
